Meira’s In Memoriam will be presented on March 19 by the Cross Island duo, cellist Suzanne Mueller and pianist Elinor Abrams Zayas, as part of their concert at Rogers Memorial Library, 91 Coopers Farm Road in Southampton, NY.
Meira wrote these sketches during the days of watching the horror of the attacks of September 11: the collapse of the World Trade Center, the attack on the Pentagon, the plane crash in Pennsylvania.
The March 19 program, Distaff: Music by Women Composers, featuring solos, duets and trios (with guest clarinetist Joseph Rutkowski) by Cécile Chaminade, Louise LeBeau, Florence Price, Ruth Schonthal, Clara Schumann, Pamela Sklar, Meira and Chen Yi.
