Meira received a Newly Published Music award from the National Flute Association at their annual Convention, this past August in Minneapolis, MN, for her Spirals of Light for flute, cello and piano. The piece is published by Hildegard Publishing Company and will be presented on Sunday, October 22 @ 4:00 PM at Temple of Israel’s Reibman Center, 922 Market Street in Wilmington, NC.
A deeply spiritual meditation opens Spirals of Light, which quietly brings the listener along its slowly accelerating lines, before deconstructing into a sonic stillness in which every note, every breath holds meaning. A joyful dance of light brings the journey full circle. Warshauer’s music, together with a poem of the same title by Ani Tuzman, was commissioned for a program “on themes of enlightenment” at Columbia College, and both words and music appear on the 1997 CD Spirals of Light (Kol Meira 1001).
