Meira’s Yiddish Fantasy for String Orchestra will be performed on Wednesday, May 4 @ 7:30 PM at the Peace Center in Greenville, SC as part of Violins of Hope South Carolina.
Varna International Orchestra will offer this concert highlighting the Violins of Hope. Local musicians will play violins that survived the Holocaust, now restored in Israel by father-son violin makers, Amnon and Avshi Weinstein.
The program will also include compositions by Jewish composers: Bloch, Copland, Gershwin, Mendelssohn, Saint Saëns and Wieniawski. Compositions by the award-winning Bulgarian composer G. Andreev, who composed Varna International’s A Melancholy Beauty, will be featured, with Andreev being the soloist performing on a traditional Bulgarian folk instrument.
