Meira’s Like Streams in the Desert will be performed on Saturday September 29 at 7:30 PM by the Indiana State University Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Erik Rohde, at the school’s Tilson Auditorium (Tirey Hall) in Terra Haute.

Like Streams in the Desert was commissioned by the Dayton (OH) Philharmonic in honor of the 50th anniversary of the state of Israel. It is inspired by Psalm 126, whose theme is the return of exiles to Zion. Hear the piece below and read more about it at https://meirawarshauer.com/works/like-streams-in-the-desert/.

The University Symphony is a 60- to 70-piece full orchestra which rehearses twice weekly, and presents four concerts each academic year. Membership in this for-credit course is open to music majors and non-majors by audition. The ensemble performs in a variety of musical genres, including symphony, concerto, oratorio, and opera, and regularly collaborates with faculty and professional soloists. In addition, it is a resident ensemble for the annual Paul W. Hagan Concerto/Aria Audition Prize, winners of which perform with the University Symphony.
