Opus Two performs Meira Warshauer’s Carolina Gallery at Columbia Museum of Art. Based on three works of art, the violin and piano duo performs this newly commissioned work in the museum which exhibits two of the art works. Artists Christian Thee, Alex Powers, and Philip Mullen join the composer and performers William Terwilliger (violin) and Andrew Cooperstock (piano) in discussing the art and music prior to the performance. Audience members are invited to view Powers’s Perpetuate Slavery Or and Thee’s Orientation Gallery in the museum before or after the performance, which will include visual representations of all three works, including Mullen’s Women in the Country [Series 2 No 5] on permanent exhibit at the nearby Koger Center for the Arts.
Free with membership or exhibition admission ($12 adults, $10 seniors, military $5 students).
