The Sumter Museum will present an afternoon of Meira’s music on Sunday, March 9 @ 4 PM at Temple Sinai Jewish History Center, 10 Church St. in Sumter, SC (seen below), as part of the Sumter Inspire Festival. Performers are the Shir Amir Trio and the Sumter Civic Chorale with Meira introducing the music. The program will be:
Bracha for violin and piano, performed by violinist Ari Streisfeld and pianist Lynn Kompass
Rakhel m’vaca–Raheel tabki (Rachel Weeps), performed by mezzo soprano Rachel Calloway and pianist Kompass. This is a new arrangement for mezzo soprano and piano, incorporating Arabic along with the Hebrew text. (Thanks to Gamil Gabr for the Arabic translation). Audience participation with Ahavah (Love) chant led by Meira
