Meira’s Yiddish Fantasy will be presented on April 8 at Towson University in Towson, MD as part of Music for Lack of Words. Emmanuel Borowsky of American Virtuosi will play the violin solo part for this performance. Lithuanian violinist Borisas Traubas will be part of the string ensemble.
Other performers will be Radhames Santos, violin, Frances Borowsky, cello, Cecylia Barczyk, cello, Andrew Utz, bass, Elizabeth Borowsky, piano and Matthew Dupree, percussion.
Yiddish Fantasy is an arrangement of several Yiddish songs and klezmer tunes which were popular among the Jews of Eastern Europe at the turn of the century. Written for Daniel Heifetz and The Classical Band, Yiddish Fantasy provides a glimpse into the culture of the Jews of Eastern Europe at the turn of the 19th-20th century.
